Tryouts

2025 Tryout Information 

 August 11 - 13 from 2:30 - 6:30 in the South Gym

  • Please arrive 15 minutes early to get dressed and help set up the nets.

  • TRYOUTS ARE MANDATORY.  Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

  • We do not anticipate making any cuts. Tryouts will be used to determine which team players will be invited to play on.

  • We'll begin our regular practice schedule (3:30 - 5:30) on Thursday, August 14th. See Calendar for more details. 

  • All registration forms and payments must be turned in on or by August 11th to be eligible to try out. See below for more details. 

Registration

All athletes intending to tryout must be registered. There are many steps to the registration. This list is intended to help guide the process, though forms and links may change. See the MPS Athletics Webpage for the original list. 

If you have any trouble uploading your physical or making payments online, you can bring copies to registration night (dates tbd) or to the first day of tryouts.

This is the online portion of the registration. If you have registered before, DO NOT create a new account. If you need help getting logged in, use the "Forgot Your Username or Password" link or contact the RSchoolToday helpline at 612-605-1623 and they can help you get into your account.

All student participants are required to have an up-to-date athletic physical on file at their school (valid for 36 months).  Please understand that an athletic physical is different than a well child exam.  Minnesota State High School Athletic Physical Forms are located under resources on the MSHSL Eligibility Page.  Athletic participation physicals are available with your primary care physician, the School Based Clinic (Free), TRIA Orthopedic Clinics on select dates (Free), and Twin Cities Orthopedics on select dates (Free).

Payment of Sports Fees

The sports fee is Sports Fee is $75 or, if qualified for educational benefits the fee is $25.

*Please keep a copy of your receipt! 

If you are having trouble making a payment online, please bring the payment to South on information night or before the start of the season (cash or check).

Families are reminded to complete Educational Benefits Application in order to qualify for reduced athletic participation fees.  The Application for Educational Benefits can be completed at SchoolCafé.com.

  1. Visit SchoolCafé.com and login with your username and password.

  2. Click on Eligibility Benefits, then click on Apply.

  3. Follow the instructions to complete your online application.

An eligibility notice letter will arrive in the mail within 10 business days.
